Microcredit Loans Make A Difference
The typical FFW microcredit participant is a woman with more than three children, likely living at or below the poverty level and sharing a small house with one or two other families. She may be in Liberia or San Diego, an immigrant, refugee or survivor of domestic abuse with limited education.

FFW microcredit loans enable her to make and sell items, buy and resell goods, clean homes and businesses – employing all her skills and talents to earn money to support her family. She's eventually able to feed, clothe and send her children to school.

Our movie, To Save A Life, opened across the country in 441 theatres on January 22nd and I was honored to be invited to the Red Carpet Premiere on the 21st!

My church New Song teamed up with a professional cast and crew from Hollywood to produce the film, "To Save a Life." Our passionate desire is to see millions of lives changed around the world through the message of the film.
New Song Community Church took a huge leap of faith and decided to make a movie. Written and produced by Youth Pastor Jim Britts and Executive Pastor Steve Foster, "To Save A Life" is a movie dealing with the tragic issue of Teen Suicide.

This movie and movement was developed to inspire young people to reach out to the hurting and lonely around them. Please be inspired and reach out to someone it could save a life.

Purple for Prosperity.....SUCCESS!!

On December 17th the Purple For Prosperity campaign raised $785 in less than 1 hour, Thank you Carlsbad High!! Half the proceeds will go to The Foundation For Women and half to Carlsbad Women's Outreach Club. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

So I was out of town a few days visiting family and enjoying some early holiday fun. I am excited that my first vist with the Women's Out Reach Club at Carlsbad High Schol was a success. I put in over a dozen purple extensions and hope that will get all the students on campus excited for the big event on the 17th. Below was a write up in the North County Times Community news promoting Purple For Prosperity.

Carlsbad hairstylist wins Mrs. Southern California

CARLSBAD ---- Carlsbad hair stylist Tara Hooper was recently crowned Mrs. Southern California 2010 by the Community Action Team at the Grand Long Beach Event Center in Long Beach. Proceeds from the event will benefit animals, youth and the environment. Among her first duties as Mrs. Southern California, Tara will hold a Purple For Prosperity program at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Carlsbad High School , 3557 Lancer Way. Proceeds will benefit the Foundation For Women and the Carlsbad High School Women’s Outreach Club. Donations of $10 will get you a purple hair extension. What a busy but fun weekend. I was honored to be in 2 parades, Belmont Shores on Saturday and La Jolla on Sunday. Check out my facebook page for some fun video clips! Got to go get my rest as tomorrow morning I have my interview with CHTV to promote Purple For Prosperity!

Ok so I am super excited about this weekend. My first official duties as Mrs. Southern California...........THE CHRISTMAS PARADES!! I will be at the Belmont Shores Parade on Saturday night and the La Jolla Parade on Sunday afternoon.

I know my fellow Queens have been busy these last weeks with other activities such as the Turkey Trot and Belmont Shore 30 min Beach Cleanup. Sadly I had to miss these as I was cooking for 20 on Thanksgiving and doing hair for all my valued clients on Saturdays. Busy Busy for the working beauty queen mom. But now the parades are here, yeah! I will be at the clean up in February and have am collecting gifts to in need animals to give to Santa Paws. As my busy season at work passes I will be ready and able to do more as Mrs. Southern California!

Don't forget Purple for Prosperity is an on going campaign. Please stop by my salon, donate $10, and get a fun purple hair extension all benefitting Foundation For Women and Women Outreach at Carlsbad High School.

Great Holiday

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I did other than the last bits of being sick, but I managed. Not a lot of official So Cal duties this week but I did have some incredible mommy momemts and happen to meet some lovely girls form the National American Miss Pageant at Disneyland.
This was where my great mommy moments were, seeing the joy and awe of my son at Disneyland and getting lucky enough to meet some beautiful queens from all over the country! Good Luck Girls! (See photos below)

Purple for Prosperity

Good afternoon! On December 17th at Carlbad High School I will be launching my first Purple for Prosperity campaign. "Show that you care wear purple in your hair".
A $10 donation gets you a purple hair extension to create awareness and raise funds for the Foundation for Women(www.foundationforwoman.org) The proceeds will be shared with the Womens Outreach Club at Carlsbad High School.

My goal is to take this campaign on campus all across highs schools in So California.
We can use any color extension to promote your cause and the Foundation For Women.

On November 15th 2009 WOW!! I was crowned Mrs. Southern California 2010. What an honor to apart of a Justin Rudd Production.

The venue was chic, fab and glamourous with cool lounge seating, cocktails and glitz. Photographers were every where, I felt famous even if it was just for the evening. We celebrated the evening with fellow title holders, judges, directors, family and friends with an after party that included dancing, appetizers and more cocktails..........what a night! A big thanks to my pageant posse my hubby Jeff and friends Dee and Tammra for cheering me along
